What kinds of wildlife are in Seward?
You will likely see bald eagles, swallows, hummingbirds, moose, coyotes, Dall sheep, mountain goats and possibly a bear. We have black and brown bears, sea otters, sea lions, harbor seals, Orcas (killer whales), Humpback, and Grey whales, Dall porpoise, Harbor porpoise and a huge variety of sea birds including puffins, ducks, loons, cormorants and great blue herons.

What will the weather be like?
Summer temperatures will normally range from the 40s to the 70s in the Seward area. It can occasionally be warmer and it is likely to rain in August and September. Spring and fall season temperatures will normally range from the high 30s to the 60s.

What kinds of clothes should I bring?
Bring clothes that can be layered to anticipate all weather conditions. Summer can be quite hot and quite cold. Be sure to bring rain gear. If you plan to go out on the water it is wise to bring a hat and gloves.

When will the sun set?
You will experience 18-22 hours of sunlight. The farther north you go, the longer the day. We never have 24 hours of light in Seward but the long days are an adjustment for most people. We have mini blinds on all windows in the guest house.

Where should we stay if you’re sold out?
Please call us to be sure we are sold out. We do get occasional cancellations. If we're already sold out for the dates you're looking for we will provide you with recommendations on other comparable B&B’s and/or Guest Houses.

How do I visit Kenai Fjords National Park?
Kenai Fjords National Park can be divided into three main areas: the Coast, the Exit Glacier Area and the Harding Ice Field. The most common way to view the Parks coast is by taking a boat tour offered daily from Seward. Water taxi services and kayak trips are available as well. Exit Glacier is the only part of the park accessible by road. You can access the Harding Ice Field via a strenuous hiking trail or a scenic over flight.

Which boat tour should I take?
Many private boat companies offer boat tours of the fjords. Please visit the Seward Chamber of Commerce for a list of boat tour operators (www.seward.com).

What wildlife you may see on your boat tour?
During the summer months, late May through the beginning of September, puffins, whales, and other wildlife are prevalent. Although it cannot be predicted where, when, or if you will have the opportunity to view such wildlife, the longer boat trips do have a higher probability of viewing more wildlife due to being on the water for a longer period of time.

How do I get to Exit Glacier?
Travel 8.6 miles down Herman Leirer/Exit Glacier Road at mile 3 of the Seward Highway. Several companies provide taxi/shuttle bus service from Seward. There is a short walk to the glacier where you can touch the ice and take lots of photos. Please visit the National Park service (http://www.nps.gov/archive/kefj/home.htm).
